Speaking of pets ...
While there are rarely dogs running around the park, I do see quite a few cats.
Technically, it's just as illegal and just as wrong for cats to be allowed to run around. I suppose it's tolerated because cats on the loose are far less obnoxious than are dogs. I mean, I love dogs, but I don't love your dog. Your dog is a pain in the ass.
Other people's cats, however are cool, 'cause it doesn't get into my garbage, dig up my pants or leave huge piles on my lawn.
And I really need a cat. I mean, I've wanted a cat, but been too bust and too cash poor to carry myself over to PAWS on Northeast Perry in Peoria and get a cat ... legally.
But with winter coming the field mice have found it too easy to get inside my trailer. I need a cat -- not a kitten -- that will stalk and kill this fuzzy little vermin. Ivan tries his best, but he's too big follow he behind furniture, etc.
So if anyone reading this is cat rich, I happen to be cat poor and will take a good mouser with a good disposition off your hands and give him a good home. Ivan grew up around cats and will no doubt welcome the company.

Dog gone
I put Ivan out for a while tonight. The park doesn't want people leaving their dogs chained up all the time (they get paranoid and vicious that way) so they have a time limit. After a few minutes to do his business, I went to the door and tried to call him over.
Remember, this is at about 6 p.m. It's dark and Ivan is a black lab. And he knows I can't see him, so he's fond of not coming when I call him. Don't tell me animals don't have a sense of humor. He's also fold of getting his leash wrapped around the pile of cinder blocks they are going to use under the mobile home they're putting in next week.
So, I get my shoes on and go look for him. And he ain't there.
Crap. He's gone and slipped out of the crappy collar my nephew bought for him and gone a' wanderin.'
So I get in my car and start looking and I see the miserable mutt right around the corner, within earshot.
So, I great the dog like a long lost brother. I make it clear I'm glad to see him and love him and get him in the house, where I give him not one, not two, but THREE Milk Bones. I wanted to strangle him, I was so worried.
*sigh*
So, he's laying low now. I don't think my act worked.

Just a little bit impressed with the blogroll feature
The new Blogger is supposed to let users make changes to their templates without having to hard-code HTML. If you don't know what that means, then this new Blogger is supposed to be for you.
Trouble is, one of the big problems Blogger users face is that adding and maintaining a blogroll is a major endeavor. Either the blogger hand codes all those links, or they use a third-party service like Blogrolling.com, which still requires cut and past of code inside a page template.
The new beta is touted as allowing users to make all sorts of changes without having to directly type or cut-and-paste html.
And that's true.
But not as easily as some other systems. Word Press, for example, has a "Link It" script users can drag onto their browser menu bar and click it to add sites to an integrated blogroll. With Blogger's new system, you have to add a new page element, chose the "links" feature, then manually add the site's name and URL. And trust me, it's easy to add seven or eight links then mistakenly close the window thinking you've actually permanently added the links, when in fact there's a final "save" button to click. Bummer.
Don't get me wrong. It's an improvement, as are most of the changes. But it seems to me that Blogger is at least two years behind the curve, because I saw similar drag-and-click functionality out of Six Apart's TypePad, which isn't free like Blogger or even WordPress.com or Blog Peoria for that matter.

Welcome new readers
So, I see this announcement that Blogger is upgrading. Fine. I don't use Blogger anymore, so some of my readers do. I've always tried to keep readers informed about new developments in blogging tools. So, I logged into my Blogger account to see what the fuss is all about.
Not much, at first. The new Blogger Beta wasn't available for any of my remaining Blogger blogs. If I wanted to test the new features, I'd have to start from scratch.
No problem.
This "The King of Royal Court" was born. And this is my first real post.
I'll be making more posts as I explore and review these new functions.
